How is the affiliation to different communities such as gay and lesbian, cis*, trans* or the majority and minority society changing? Decisions are constantly being made about what should be told and disclosed in which context. Cis*gender is the name for people whose gender identity also corresponds to the gender that was assigned to them at birth. Genderfluid tries to describe a gender identity that changes between two or more genders. The * (gender star) designates men, women and all other gender identities at the same time. Inter* or intersex, also intersexual, describes people whose bodies, due to their primary and secondary sexual characteristics and/ or the chromosome set, do not clearly correspond to what is considered physically female or male in society, but rather unite both physically masculine as well as feminine constructed features. Non-binary means that you do not fit into the two-part gender system, i.e. man and woman. Rather, there should be a different gender description or none at all. The terms transgender, transsexual or transidentity are often used when people do not identify with the gender assigned to them at birth. CHECK | AUSGABE 1 23
